What if it Rains on Your Wedding Day?

What if it Rains on Your Wedding Day?

What if it rains on my wedding day?

Most people want some photos outside on their wedding day.  Because of this most people worry about rain and so one of the most frequently asked questions that I get from brides is “what do you do if it rains?”.

Even if it rains, you will still have beautiful portraits and BRIGHT colors in your images!  Overcast skies mean soft light and vibrant colors!  Of course rain isn’t ideal and brides never wish for rain on their wedding day but if it happens, it happens….. and it’s going to be JUST fine!!  Some of our best weddings have been on rainy wedding days!

Here are a few things to remember:

1. A small overhang to keep the rain off you is all I need to create beautiful wedding photos on a rainy day!

2. You have enough to worry about on your wedding day.  I will worry about pictures.  If it looks like it might rain, I’ll be sure to do some extra scouting to find the perfect place for your first look, romantic portraits and bridal party portraits.

3. Focus on what you can control and don’t worry about things beyond that.  That means, have a rain plan for your venue but don’t try to think about how it will affect your entire day.  That will only overwhelm you!  Take things one step at a time.

Keep in mind there are seasons when it rains and rain limits the type of pictures we can take but it doesn’t ruin your wedding.  If you’re brave you can get pictures in the rain but I haven’t met a bride who was down for a trash the dress session yet:) In my experience you can only tell it rained in a few photos from the entire wedding.

Hope you guys enjoyed this bridal guide post.  See you next week!
